How do you become a member of First American?
First American is a non-profit cooperative that exists solely to serve our members and their families. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Rock County, WI, Green County, WI, Walworth County, WI or Winnebago County, IL. Please fill out this form and present it when you open your account with First American.

To become a member, deposit a minimum of $5 in a Savings Account. The $5 is your "share" of First American. When you become a member, you also become a part-owner of First American. Each member has one equal voting share in the credit union.

How do you become a board member at First American?
A Nominating Committee consisting of at least 3 members of the credit union are appointed by the Chairperson of the Board 75 days prior to the Annual Meeting. The purpose is to have at least one member for each vacant position(s) on the Board of Directors.

The Nominating Committee must notify the full membership of First American that an election is going to take place at least 60 days before the Annual Meeting. Thirty days before the Annual Meeting, a list of nominees for the vacant positions will be given to the Chairperson from the Nominating Committee and posted within the branch offices.

Any member in good standing and eligible to vote who wishes to become a nominee may do so by circulating a petition. The petition must be given to the Chairperson of the Board at least 10 days prior to the Annual Meeting. This petition must be signed by at least 25 eligible voting members to be considered valid.

Announcement of the nominees selected by the Nominating Committee and the valid nominee(s) by petition will be presented at the Annual Meeting. After this announcement, all nominations will be officially closed. If more nominees exist than the number of open positions, a ballot election will be held.
